Depositions of high-ranking Warren officials could start in early 2016 as part of a whistleblower case involving the municipality, a lawyer for a former city employee said. The whistleblower lawsuit was filed a year ago by former assistant city planner Kenneth Bouchard. Bouchard claims he faced on-the-job retaliation after suspecting some government practices were illegal. Hired in January 2011, Bouchard says he was a victim of "constructive termination" before he resigned in August 2014, and alleges the city bundled tax-reverted properties for favored developers and that he was reprimanded for refusing to make copies of copyrighted site plans. Last spring, attorneys for the city filed a motion in U.S. District Court in Detroit asking that the case be tossed out. Judge Denise Page Hood recently denied that request. "I'm not surprised," said Bouchard's attorney, Jennifer Lord, when reached for comment. "I think the judge did the right thing, and we are looking forward to moving forward to depositions and discovery in this case." You can read the entire story here
