Channing Robinson-Holmes
Partner
Since joining Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers, Channing Robinson-Holmes has played a critical role in advocating for those impacted by systemic injustices – from numerous employment cases to civil rights actions to whistleblower claims. She is a key member of the legal team in the Flint Water Crisis litigation, seeking accountability and justice for the city’s residents. Channing is a dedicated advocate for survivors of sexual assault and harassment, including current and former members of the University of Kentucky Women’s Swim Team. She also fights for the rights of individuals with disabilities—whether actual, perceived, or in their medical history—as well as LGBTQIA+ individuals facing workplace discrimination.
In addition to her advocacy for marginalized communities, Channing has built a successful track record protecting employees who expose workplace wrongdoing, appearing before the Michigan Supreme Court on behalf of the plaintiff in Jennifer Janetsky v Saginaw County in her 10-year fight for justice. She has served as second-chair in two whistleblower cases and successfully first-chairing Ellerbee v. Kuzzo’s Chicken & Waffles. She, along with Cary McGehee, also represented two putative classes of women incarcerated in Michigan’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility who suffered harm from a scabies outbreak and unhealthy mold conditions. In a recent victory, Channing and Cary McGehee overturned the juvenile life-without-parole sentence of Barbara Hernandez, making her eligible for parole after serving more than 30 years in prison.
Beyond the courtroom, Channing’s work has contributed to broader legal reform, including expanding the scope of gross negligence claims to better protect vulnerable children and hold educational institutions accountable. She is an active member of the Michigan Association for Justice (MAJ) Amicus Committee, contributing at least two amicus briefs annually to the Supreme Court on civil rights issues, and serves on the Michigan State Bar’s Bar Journal Committee.
Channing was a finalist for the 2022 Public Justice Trial Lawyer of the Year Award and a recipient of MAJ’s 2024 Champion of Justice Award. Through her practice, she continues to fight for justice, equity, and accountability for those most in need.
