Kevin Carlson joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2006, following a two-year clerkship with United States District Judge Arthur J. Tarnow in Detroit. From 2016-2019, Kevin was Of Counsel to the firm. During that time, Kevin served as the first adjunct professor in the newly formed Detroit Mercy Law pro se legal assistance clinic. In 2019, through his work with the clinic, Kevin helped secure a groundbreaking decision from the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in the matter of Logan v. MGM Grand Detroit Casino, where the Court held that employers cannot alter or shorten the limitations period for Title VII claims.

Kevin became a partner of the firm in 2020. He represents individuals across the employment spectrum, from hourly employees to corporate executives. He has obtained significant settlements in cases alleging race discrimination, national origin discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation, among others. His recent successes include serving as lead counsel in an age discrimination action filed on behalf of ten salaried employees, culminating in a multi-million-dollar settlement, as well as a $500,000 settlement in a single-plaintiff age discrimination case. Kevin is a part of a team of attorneys from the firm representing hundreds of Michigan residents who suffered catastrophic damages due to the failure of the Edenville dam in 2020.

Kevin is a member of the Oakland County Lawyers Committee of the ACLU of Michigan, an author and contributor to the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the State Bar of Michigan, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Roeper School in Birmingham, Michigan.
