In one day, a Biggby Coffee shop in Mount Pleasant fired three employees: a bisexual woman, a transgender man and a lesbian.
All three worked together for months with no issues, court records show. But then a gay pride trivia board went up in the store, and the owner allegedly called the sign "too political," took it down, then fired the three LGBTQ+ employees the next day.
Five months later, we sued this coffee shop owner under Michigan’s newly revised civil rights law, which protects LGBTQ+ individuals from discrimination in the workplace.
