Peggy Goldberg Pitt

Founding Partner

Peggy Goldberg Pitt is a Founding Partner and received her law degree from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1979 and has practiced in the area of employment law for over twenty-five years. In addition to employment law, she is also actively engaged in the area of civil rights. She has participated in several class actions against Michigan jails and prisons on behalf of prisoners. Her impassioned advocacy has led to positive changes within Michigan’s correctional systems.

Peggy received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and holds a Masters of Education from Oakland University. Prior to entering law school, she was a teacher in the Detroit and Pontiac school systems. She also worked with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare in a pilot program teaching reading to functionally illiterate adults.

Peggy is a member of the ACLU of Michigan Advisory Board, served as the volunteer attorney for the ACLU and has litigated cases with Public Justice. She has been a board member of Forgotten Harvest, one of the largest food rescue organizations in the country, and remains deeply committed to the organization’s mission. She is a Board Member of the Detroit Music Hall and of the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance, a group dedicated to the support of women with ovarian cancer and their families. Peggy is active in the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA), the National Council of Jewish Women and the National Organization of Women (NOW). She is also a member of the Women’s Lawyers Association of Michigan and the American Association for Justice Women’s Caucus.
