Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers Files Class Action Lawsuit Against Former UM Coach Matt Weiss and University of Michigan

Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers has filed a new class action lawsuit on behalf of eleven former student athletes against the University of Michigan’s former football coach Matt Weiss, the University of Michigan, the Board of Regents, and database manager Keffer Development Services.

The lawsuit alleges that Weiss illegally accessed these former student athletes’ personal data, and that the University of Michigan failed to protect them from this serious violation. Weiss is alleged to have used this information to gain access to the social media, email, and cloud storage accounts of over 3,000 student athletes, downloading sensitive, intimate digital images and videos without their consent.

Partner Megan Bonanni is one of the attorneys representing these plaintiffs and emphasizes the act of filing litigation and trying to force institutional change can be a part of the healing process for many survivors. As this case develops, Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers committed to securing justice for these survivors, pushing for lasting institutional changes that ensure the safety and dignity of student-athletes are protected.
